The Buda castle district with its narrow streets, old houses, gas lamps and marvellous monuments is the most romantic pedestrian district of Budapest. In the district, which is between the Dísz square and the Matthias church, travellers can enjoy the buildings from the Middle ages and the baroque and copf palaces. The unique attractions of the area are the sitting niches next to the entrances of the buildings. Probably these niches served as the rest place of servants.

The castle district is also rich in exhibitions: Museum of Military History, Golden Eagle Pharmacy Museum, Museum of Hungarian Commerce and Catering, Jewish Pray House, Telephone Museum, Institute of Musicology.

Travellers can find one of the most beautiful Hilton Hotels, the Budapest Hilton, in this district. Into its walls the remains of a medieval monastery was incorporated.

The Ruszwurm Confectionery was founded in the 19 th century and it operates with the original furniture and offers the famous cakes according to the old receipts.
