Heroe's Square
The Heroes' Square is located at the end of the Andrássy Avenue. In the middle of the monument, there is a 36-metre high stone column, which is crowned by the wing figure of Archangel Gabriel. According to the legends, Gabriel appeared in the dream of St. Stephen and brought the crown for him. On the base of the column the seven Hungarian Chieftains, while on the side colonnades, kings and main personages of the Hungarian history are figured. The elegance of the statues and the solemnity of the square is increased by the two antic-shaped museums ( Museum of Fine Arts and the Art Gallery ) on the sides.
