The Balaton Congress Centre and Theatre was opened first among provincial congress centres on 6th June 2002. The functions of the new institution (theatre, general educational institution, congress centre) complete each other, and experienced personnel serves also the events. The multilevel building has an assembly hall for 505 people, which is suitable for the organisation of conferences, balls and other events as well. Besides, our institution disposes of four section halls (can be separated, transformed, varied), together they are suitable for 500 persons, and also of professional equipments, sound, light and translation techniques.Our goal is that the high quality hospitality in the town, the varied programs and recreation facilities, and also the Balaton Congress Centre and Theatre that builds on these conditions, will create the possibility for Keszthely to become also a cultural and conference centre of the West-Transdanubian region.The renovation of the Balaton Congress Centre and Theatre began in January 2001 on the basis of the plans of Csontos Csaba architect from Budapest, he was awarded an Ybl prize. The technical opening of the multifunctional building took place on the 30th April 2002. , and the ceremonial inauguration on the 6th June 2002.
