The Balaton Bike Trail encircling the Lake is a 210 km bike path that is signposted all the way along. It goes partially along bike tracks and in some places on side roads along the shore. Everyone will find the route most enjoyable, whether you are a tourist wanting to explore with a leisurely bike ride, or a serious hiker who is used to steep, daunting hillsides.
The region is also ideal for families arriving here with small children, as the Lake is surrounded by lots of attractions offering ample opportunity to take breathers along the way. While cycling along, it is worth stopping at the mementoes, museums, wine regions and natural treasures of the area. Fond memories will be remembered from photos taken in this beautiful environment. There is no better way to refresh from the weariness of the trip than by taking a cool dip in the lake or filling your bottle with the fresh water from one of the many natural springs. If you enjoy cycling but did not bring your bikes with you, you will still not miss out—numerous rental places and repair shops assist visitors around the Lake.
