With the Family: Teaching path of the mountains of Keszthely

Mr Pele, the graphiure, is called for help to make children be able to discover the tiny secrets of the forest on the teaching path created for children in Balatonfelvidék National Park. The path has 38 stages and is 8,5 km long between Balatongyörök and Balatonederics and it presents the natural value of forest living places. The teaching path is  accessible from the well-known tourists’ places. There is also a study written on the territory and the path, which shows the natural values of the mountains of Keszthely and it is the guide for the path as well. This booklet is available at the presentation places of the National Park.

Viewtower offer:
We can climb up to the highest point of Mount Kerek on the blue-marked path from Gyenesdiás. There we can find the three storied Festetics viewtower that was rebuilt in 2000. If the weather is clear we can see half of the Transdanubia from the tower. Not far from here there is the Berzsenyi viewtower in Mount PetÅ‘ that can be reached on foot, by bike or car following the red- and yellow-marked paths after leaving Road 71. People knowing the panorama of that place say that the main points, from Vas to Somogy, of Berzsenyi’s life can be seen from here.

For tastehunters: Olaszrizling (type of grapes) teaching path in Csopak-Paloznak

Olaszrizling teaching path was established with the support of Csopak and Paloznak in 2006. There are 12 teaching tables showing the types of grapes of the Balaton highland, the evolution of the red soil characterising this area, the main steps of vine-culture, the factors affecting the ecological balance, vintage work and the landmarks of vine-area. The guide of the tables, ornamented with folk-art motives, was written by Tamás JenÅ‘ oenologist from Csopak while the photos were taken by Tamás Ervin.

Viewtower offer:
We can admire one of the most characteristic viewtowers of Balaton in the neighbourhood of Csopak, in Alsóörs. The Mount Csere viewtower having the marks of the renaissance and gothic ages, recalling the marks of a donjon, was built from the red stone of the perm age in 1935. The first stone viewtower of Balaton Highland was renovated in the previous era and was heightened for better viewing.

For nature lovers: The Lakes of  Törek teaching path

On the 9 km long teaching path, introducing the local living places, we can know the flora and fauna with the help of trilingual tables. For example there is a bank-martin colony and the living place of bee-eaters in a suspended opencast area and besides there is the autumn moving-route of European bird species so the fishing ponds provide a resting and meeting point for a lot of birds - which are not native in Hungary – in the autumn and spring. There are two resting places (one near a pond and one in the forest) for tourist to have their picnics. The beginning of the teaching path is between the kilometre stones 116 and 117 of road 7, behind the patrol station.

Viewtower offer:
The newest tower of the southern bank is the Kőhegy viewtower in Zamárdi, which was built in 2000 in the framework of the millennium celebrations. There is an incomparable view of the Balaton from Kenese through Tihany peninsula to the basalt organs of Badacsony lying in front of our eyes from the tiny watchtower-like brick building. You can visit the tower all year long following the local yellow-marked path while the green one is going nearby.
