The site plays an important role in retaining the genetic stock of Buffalo, a traditional Hungarian animal. At the same time it is a popular centre for showing the species, since direct contact can be made with the tame stock.

An exhibition about the flora and fauna of Kis_balaton with interactive and playful elements, a museum about history of buffalo and a short nature trail was developed in 2004 at the reserve. Picnic areas, telescopes and a lookout tower await the visitors. In the main building publications, souvenirs and refreshments are available.

Open to visitors all year round, on the pastures in the mornings and at the centre in the afternoons.
