Documents say that the settlement has been founded in 1262, the local roman catholic church has been built in the 13th century. A part of the village is now a summer resort, visitors can find many accomodations in the two camp sites and the pensions near the shore, as well as in private houses in the village itself. The greatest stalactite cave of Western Hungary has been recently discovered here, and you can also spend your time and find pleasure in the well-known Africa Museum and Safari Park of the village, founded by a reputed African hunter born in Balatonederics.
