Dömörkapu is the resting place on the South-Eastern slope of the Misina, the junction of several tourist routes. Its name is of Turkish origin, it means "Iron gate" or "Fortified passage".
As you proceed to the gate, you will find the Szaniszló-rest along the road, where a black marble table in the stone wall says: "Dedicated to the memory of Dr. Szaniszló Mócs, teacher of the Cistercian monk, enthusiast of the nature, devout colleague of the Mecsek Association. Raised by the Mecsek Association in the year 1905, with support from his admirers and friends."
In the centre of Dömörkapu, near the Ptacsek-rest there is a bench with the following inscription: "Dedicated to the memory of the enthusiast of Mecsek, Viktor Ptacsek. Raised by his family and admirers." This sign was ordered by the wife of the director of the Hungarian National Bank's Pécs Branch in 1928. Going downhill, you can see one of the well-known Mecsek plants blossoming in May, the Mecsek doronicum, growing to a size of 25-55 cm. If you proceed, you'll find yourself on Kis-rét that is a grassy valley basin surrounded by chestnut trees. The former Dömörkapu Tourist House was transformed into Hotel Mediterrán, providing ideal accommodation for those who roam the Mecsek.
