The building with the inscriptions “BAZÁR" at 1 Király street is the most spectacular example of Romatic-style architecture in Pécs. The three-storey building is connected to Széchenyi square by a glass-roofed shopping street. Vilmos Zsolnay ordered the plans from architects in Vienna and he had the house built in 1895. The building also provided the venue for the Civic Casino of Pécs. The passageway was named Nick-court after the famous beer house that used to operate here for decades. The plans are already available for the reconstruction of the passageway as such a covered garden with shops and restaurants would certainly provide a very unique venue in the town.
