The first passenger boat dated back to  September 21st 1846. On that day the paddle-steamer named Kisfaludy was launched on water. Nowadays scheduled and pleasure boats put forth. The rentable pleasure boats and the disco boats at night are especially popular. The monument erected to the 100th, 125th, and 150th anniversary of steamboating of the Balaton stands in the park in front of the building of the port. On the western part of the port are the 2 recent sights of the town, the port of the sailing boats and the Yacht Club and the Meteorological Observatory located this Institution gives the 1st storm signal for the whole Balaton region. The yard of the station is decorated by Miklós Borsos`s statue titled "Urania".
