Preceding 1879 a wheat market was held on Dugonics tér. Here we find now the statue of the name giving András Dugonics. Holding a book in his hands titled “Etelka”, it is first novel in Hungarian. In 1921 the Kolozsvár University of Science moved here. Attila József bronze statue is situated in the square.
On this square a number of cultural events and craftsmen’s fairs are held.
