Breast Enlargement

While earlier big breasts symbolized fertility, nowadays the cause for a large number of women having a breast augmentation surgery is esthetical appearance. Almost every media suggests for the women that if you have big and firm breasts, then you can reach anything in life, and it is easier. This is why it is not just a coincidence that the breast augmentation surgery is one of the most popular plastic surgeries. However, many do fall to the other side and have such big implants inserted that they cause serious backbone problems later on. It is important in every case that the patient should accept professional advice of the surgeon. Breast augmentation surgery may not only be chosen by those women who have small breasts, but in cases of form and symmetrical problems this procedure can give excellent results.

After the regular laboratory and preventing tests, in the consultation before the surgery the surgeon and the patient together choose the appropriate size and form silicon implants, the texture of which may be smooth or rough. One of the more frequent techniques used requires an incision under the lower portion of the breast near the chest wall or under the lower portion of the areola (the darker area around your nipple). After the incision is made, a pocket is created under the breast tissue or beneath the chest wall muscle. The implant is securely positioned in the pocket, and small sutures are used to close the incision. When procedure has been completed, the patient will be taken into the recovery area and continue to be monitored. Breast augmentation surgery, like all surgeries, involves some risk of infection, so patients should be careful after breast augmentation surgery to keep incision clean and call their doctor at the first sign of infection.

Similarly to the other plastic surgeries, breast augmentation is usually done under general anesthesia, and the duration of the surgery is about 1-1,5 hours. After surgery, an elastic bandage or a surgical bra over gauze dressings will be needed. The stitches are taken out after two weeks, and the wear of a special sports bra is advised for 4-8 weeks and during this time if its possible patients are recommended not to do any physical work.
